Succeeding Margaret Huber in Islamabad is David Collins, with a distinguished service record. He joined the Canadian Government in the Department of Industry, Trade and Commerce in 1976 after Naval Reserve service, and in addition to discharging his duties in his hometown of Halifax (Nova Scotia), he has served abroad in Minneapolis, Warsaw, Ankara, Brussels (NATO Delegation), and Seoul. He was Canada’s Ambassador to Romania, Bulgaria, and Moldovia, resident in Bucharest. On secondment Mr. Collins has served as Director General of the International and Industry Programs at the Department of National Defence, and on the NATO International Secretariat in Brussels as Director for Defence Partnership and Cooperation. In Ottawa he has served as Senior Departmental Assistant to the Minister for International Trade, Director Northern Europe, and most recently as Inspector General. Mr. Collins has a Bachelors in History and Politics from Queens University; BCom (Business Administration) from Concordia University; MSc in Management Sciences from Durham University; ACIS from the Institute of Chartered Secretaries & Administrators; and has attended the Senior Executive Development Program from the Banff School of Advanced Management. Mr. David Collins is married to Jacquie Collins, and they have one adult son, Nicholas.
